Aussie's heavy progressives in Northlane have confirmed the October 30th release of their seventh full length album, Anemoia. Executive produced by none other than Jordan Fish, the project is said to be inspired by UK producer and DJ Evian Christ. Following a revelatory live set, songwriter/guitarist Jon Deiley felt compelled to explore how best to bridge trance music with the band's own brand of electronic accented metalcore.
The arrival of Anemoia arrives as a fully independent release for Northlane and follows the success of the band's 2023 outing, Obsidian. Weaving elements of jungle, trance, pop, drum and bass, all along with Northlane's core heft and metallic DNA, album number seven strives to be the most ambitious effort from the band in their more than 15 year career. Speaking to the themes of that anchor the album, Northlane's Marcus Bridge explains, “There's darkness here, but it's not nihilism - and there's hope, but it's not naivety."
Paired with the announcement of the new album, Northlane have shared the booming lead single in, "CUT_it". Boasting massive percussion, an emotive chorus and heavy electronics throughout, the introduction underscores the creative direction of the band.
Bridge went onto explain how the theme of the single works in tandem with the music and the visuals. “CUT_it is about burnout - the feeling of grinding through things when you're completely spent, mentally and physically. The imagery is deliberately visceral, painting a picture of that exhaustion rather than analysing it.”
As for Northlane's live itinerary, the band recently completed their North American trek supporting Dayseeker. The band is currently out on the road running the European festival circuit and is confirmed to take on an extensive EU/UK tour on Dayseeker's Creature In the Black Night Tour.
