OF MICE & MEN CONFIRM THEIR EIGHTH STUDIO ALBUM, ‘TETHER’

The project is previewed by the pummeling first single, “Warpaint”.

California metalcore lifers Of Mice & Men have set an October 6th release date for their eighth full length studio effort, Tether, due out on SharpTone Records. The confirmation arrives the same week the band was announced as direct support for the North American return of Bullet For My Valentine and their massive fall tour with Vended.

Apart from underscoring the longevity it takes to get to the eighth album, the California unit continue to reach new creative plateaus, taking a DIY approach with their latest effort. The band self-produced and self-engineered the entirety of Tether and enlisted drummer Valentino Arteaga to paint and design the album artwork.

Basist/vocalist Aaron Pauley discussed the headspace the band was in when fleshing out the ideas that would ultimately comprise the Tether sessions. “With this one, we weren’t really focused on how it sounded as much as we focused on how it felt,” Pauley explains. “And that’s a weird thing to do when all you’re working with is sound. But that was really the goal. And we walked away from making it, feeling like we’ve accomplished that.”

Kicking off the campaign towards the landmark fall release, Of Mice & Men have shared a powerful first preview of the project with the anthemic single, “Warpaint”.

“We’re excited to share ‘Warpaint’ as the first single,” says Pauley. “We feel like it bridges the gap between the OM&M you’ve heard and known, and what’s to come. ‘Warpaint’ is a heavy and anthemic song about resilience, and rallying the courage to face your fears head on.”

Championing how artistic exploration can serve as an outlet for confronting depression, isolation and anxiety, the subtext of “Warpaint” is a constant that permeates throughout Tether. The ten-track presentation reiterates the band’s continued development as metalcore hit makers, while asserting a sense of self-worth in tackling heady topics like existentialism, mental wellness and self discovery.

Coinciding with the arrival of Tether, Of Mice & Men will embark on a North American tour supporting UK juggernaut Bullet For My Valentine and joined by Des Moines sensation, Vended. The tour will kick off just two days after the release of the SharpTone Records full length. A complete list of dates and cities can be found below.
