The band’s latest self-produced studio effort ‘Tether’ arrives this October via SharpTone Records.
Campaigning towards the October 6th release of their next full length studio effort, metalcore champions Of Mice & Men have shared a powerful second preview from the album with the single, “Castaway”.
The eighth full length project from the band marks their continued DIY approach, opting to handle the entirety of the project including production and engineering to the band’s drummer Valentino Arteaga spearheading the artwork.
The band’s bassist/vocalist Aaron Pauley shared the album. “With this one, we weren’t really focused on how it sounded as much as we focused on how it felt,” Pauley clarified. “And that’s a weird thing to do when all you’re working with is sound. But that was really the goal. And we walked away from making it, feeling like we’ve accomplished that.”
Tackling weighty themes throughout including depression, anxiety, isolation and existentialism, Of Mice & Men exemplifies how art and expression can be a cathartic, therapeutic means of overcoming adversity and showing resilience.
Speaking of the latest single and how it correlates to the album’s underlying themes, the band explained, “‘Castaway’ is about longing for connection with the people in our lives who tend to distance themselves when dealing with hardships, and how our inability to help them often feels like we’re frozen in time.”‘
The single arrives as Of Mice & Men prepare to embark on a North American trek supporting UK giant Bullet For My Valentine that coincides with the release of Tether. The run, which also features Des Moines new school standouts Vended, begins October 8th in Montreal and concludes November 10th in Orlando. A complete list of dates and cities can be found below.
