Watch the Gustav Stegfors-directed visual for the latest single, “Valley Ghoul”.
Just last month, LA-based post punk unit Provoker debuted new music with the single, “Debt Collector”. Enlisting director Gustav Stegfors (Drain Gang, Yung Lean, Swedish House Mafia), the band showcase their shared love of obscure horror.
With Slakthuset, a former slaughterhouse as the backdrop, the clip depicted an ominous tale of a relentless repo man intent on collecting what is owed. Provoker vocalist Christian Crow Petty assumed the role, executing his role in the B-movie-esque cut complete with a throbbing post-punk soundtrack.
The release came with it a strong hint that something bigger was in the works, and now, the band have confirmed their next phase with the announcement of their sophomore full length studio album, Demon Compass. Recruiting Zach Fogarty (Girlpool, Jean Dawson, The Blssm) and Daniel Fagerström (Viagra Boys) to assume the production duties, the meld of brooding synth and dark pop panache come together skillfully on the 12-track presentation.
The confirmation of the October 13th delivery includes a preview with the new single and video for “Valley Ghoul.” Again working with director Gustav Stegfors, the clip frames a unique coming-of-age story that involves school-aged flesh-eating ghouls navigating young love, alienation and finding their identity.
Demon Compass lands October 13th via YEAR0001. The album is available for pre-order – HERE
