The Aussie metalcore prospects swing for the fence with their latest cut, "Prisoner of You".

Wollongong's rising metalcore band Alienist has announced their global signing with UNFD. Accompanying this significant milestone in their career, the band released their latest single, "Prisoner Of You," along with an intense music video.

The five-member group, comprising Lachlan Forsberg (vocals), Damon Renes (guitar), Anthony Vella (guitar), Chris Olliffe (bass), and Jake Ceely (drums), expressed immense excitement about joining UNFD. "We are beyond excited to start this journey with UNFD," Alienist share of their new label home. "We have all grown up idolizing bands from this label and to now be a part of it is absolutely surreal!"

"Prisoner Of You" is not just a showcase of Alienist's heavy, metalcore sound, but also a poignant reflection on toxic relationships. The song combines sharp riffs, powerful verses, and melodious choruses, elevating the band's musical prowess. Its accompanying video, directed by Ten of Swords Media, captures the song's intensity and Alienist's dynamic stage presence.

Discussing the track, the band shared: "'Prisoner Of You' is an analysis of a toxic and abusive relationship and how it can feel to be in that situation with no escape in sight, to be a prisoner," Alienist share of their brand new track. "It comes from an angry perspective towards the abusive person that has attempted to destroy us emotionally or physically and the realisation of how terrible an individual that commits those acts towards someone is. It hopefully serves as a reminder to people that these situations are not okay and to seek help and support if they feel like they're in a toxic or abusive relationship."

Alienist has been on a swift rise in the metalcore scene, known for their intricate blend of heavy and nuanced sounds. Since their debut single "Social Faker" in 2019 and subsequent tracks like 2022's "Exile," the band has garnered significant attention. They have received airplay on triple j, performed with notable acts like Thy Art Is Murder and Northlane, and completed a nearly sold-out national headline tour.

As a band, Alienist not only draws inspiration from renowned groups like I Prevail, Wage War, and Bring Me The Horizon but also brings their unique sound to the forefront. Their rapid ascent in the heavy music scene, especially after the pandemic, has been remarkable, leading to appearances at major events like UNIFY Off The Record and successful tours.

With their latest venture with UNFD and the release of "Prisoner Of You," Alienist is poised to shine brighter in the global metalcore landscape. Their journey from a cover band to a force in the heavy music scene illustrates their passion and commitment to creating impactful music. As 2024 approaches, Alienist is set to captivate audiences worldwide, no longer just Wollongong's best-kept secret.
