SeeYouSpaceCowboy Drop Electrifying New Track, "Red Wine and Discontent"

- By Ramon Gonzales

The band's latest full length, Coup De Grâce, arrives later this month and coincides with a North American tour supporting Better Lovers.

Post hardcore aggressors SeeYouSpaceCowboy continue to charge towards their April 19th Pure Noise Records LP release, Coup De Grâce. Further building on SYSC's signature of complex melodies, incendiary, frenetic bursts and the dominance of Connie Sgarbossa at the helm, the rollout for the album has been anchored by a steady succession of bombastic singles including “To The Dance Floor For Shelter (ft. Courtney LaPlante)”, “Respite For A Tragic Tale (ft. iRis.EXE)”, “Silhouettes in Motion”, “Rhythm and Rapture (ft. nothing, nowhere.)”, and “Chewing The Scenery”.

The follow-up to the acclaimed 2021 LP, The Romance of Affliction, SYSC embraces an imaginative thematic approach on their latest effort that leans into a neo-noir aesthetic in the vein of Moulin Rouge. The contrast creates a canvas that compliments the caustic, often chaotic energy that creates the stylistic soundtrack of SYSC.

On the latest preview from the pending full length release, SeeYouSpaceCowboy unleash a fiery meld of effective melody and cathartic screams on their most straight-forward single thus far, "Red Wine and Discontent".

Sharing the thematic relevance of the track, Connie Sgarbossa explained the emotional weight of the single, “This is a song that deals with what it means to be the dirty little secret in an affair and trying to come to terms with that notion while also being critical and wishing to be more. It’s a song that really pushes through in a frantic but melodic way to me.”

Further delving into the genesis of the album, Sgarbossa previously shared of the project, The record started as a visual idea... because when it came to lyrics, I didn’t know what the fuck to write at first. I’m not a drug addict junkie anymore, so I'm not going to write another album like The Romance Of Affliction—I can't, and I don't want to. So my mind wandered to things that I love, like Frank Miller's Sin City graphic novels, where there are all these stories interlaced within a city."

Sgarbossa continued, "That led me to think about noir and neo-noir, and then pulp comics and novels from the ’40s and ’50s, which started to make it all come together lyrically and thematically, where each different song can be a different tale of the city."

Coinciding with the release of Coup De Grâce, SeeYouSpaceCowboy are preparing to depart on lengthy spring tour supporting Better Lovers, flanked by Foreign Hands, and Greyhaven. The run begins the day prior to their album release on April 18th in Indianapolis, IN. The 20-date trek culminates with a special appearance for SeeYouSpaceCowboy at this year’s Sound and Fury Festival in Los Angeles in mid-July.
