Serj Tankian Debuts Empowering New Track, "Justice Will Shine On"

- By Ramon Gonzales

The track will be featured on Tankian's forthcoming EP, Foundations, via Gibson Records this fall.

Accomplished multi-hyphenate Serj Tankian has delivered an impassioned message of strength in the face of unimaginable adversity with his latest single, "Justice Will Shine On". The track follows the recent release of "A.F. Day" and adds to the anticipation of Tankian's forthcoming EP, Foundations, due out September 27th via Gibson Records.

On his latest, Tankian traverses the real life trauma of the Armenian Genocide, skipping metaphors and speaking in no uncertain terms about the profound personal impact of such atrocities.  Tankian sings on the track, “Can you tell me dear grandfather of your childhood so far away/You can see the death of laughter in his teared eyes disarray/Can you tell me dear grandmother of your childhood from hunger and pain /Of the orphans you called brothers in her teared eyes disarray.”

Offering a clear, commanding message of empowerment and resolve, Tankian's tone changes from that of victim to victor, making his declaration apparent as the crux of the track, “We are the children of all the survivors/Justice will shine on!”

The arrival of "A.F. Day" and now "Justice Will Shine On" heralds Tankian's newest solo campaign via Gibson Records - adding to what is shaping up to be a fruitful year for Tankian. In addition to the new EP, Tankian recently debuted his New York Times Best-Selling memoir, Down With the System earlier this spring via Hachete Books.
