Trailing not far behind, the Paul Thomas Anderson winner in One Battle After Another scored an impressive 13 nominations and marked an important career milestone for Leonardo DiCaprio. Becoming one of the youngest actors to earn consideration for Best Actor, Marty Supreme lead Timothée Chalamet continues his meteoric rise as one of Hollywood's most in-demand names. The Josh Safdie film earned unanimous critical praise, anchored by the shining performance of Chalamet throughout.
In a field that includes Bugonia, Guillermo Del Toro's take on Frankenstein, Train Dreams, Sentimental Value, The Secret Agent and the previously mentioned three films, likely the biggest surprise in the Best Picture category is the Brad Pitt-led, Joseph Kosinski-directed F1. While the film was expected to earn recognition in the technical categories, a Best Picture nod wasn't on most bingo card.
The 2026 Oscars will be hosted again by Conan O'Brien and will air on ABC and HULU from the Dolby Theatre of Los Angeles March 15th. The ceremony begins at 4pm PT.
