Set to release their fifteenth full length album, Next To Die, April 24th via Metal Blade Records, death metal stalwarts Six Feet Under have shared another punishing preview from the presentation with the grisly, "Mutilated Corpse in the Woods". brandishing Chris Barnes brutal, graphic vocals along with guitarist Jack Owen's signature speed and skill, the track is a tried and true death metal showcase.

Owen provided some context to the inception of the track. "This song started when my wife and I were in an antique store and she found an amber quartz pendant that had lines through the whole thing. I asked her what it was and she said it's a Rutilated Quartz. Well, that's all I needed for a title and some lyrical ideas. The chorus came easy. The verses were from a true crime show where a woman described being attacked by an assailant who tied her to a tree and slit her throat. She couldn't speak or scream. In real life she survived the attack, telling her story with a giant scar across her throat. In this song, unfortunately she did not survive… My killer buried her where she will never be found. I wrote the music from scratch around the lyrical ideas."

As for Next to Die, the project was produced by Owens and Barnes with the final mix and master entrusted to Mark Lewis of MRL Studios in Nashville, Tennessee. The album follows the 2024 release, Killing For Revenge, marking the third record that Barnes and Owen have teamed up for since their 2017 reunion. The album consist of two parts, asserting both the death metal technicality and the heavy groove that remain core to Six Feet Under.

In support of the arrival of Next to Die, Six Feet under will tour Europe this June with support from Embryonic Autopsy. Shortly thereafter, the band begin a North American headlining tour with support from Kataklysm and Wormhole. See the current list of confirmed dates below.
