Earlier this week, Slipknot announced plans to mark their Silver anniversary with the North American leg of their Here Comes the Pain Tour. Enlisting Knocked Loose, along with special guests Vended and Orbit Culture - the run instantly became one of the most anticipated events of the year.
Reiterating the rabid demand for tickets - even before the general on sale which is slated for May 3rd - Slipknot has already sold out their Los Angeles stop of the Here Comes the Pain Tour set for the brand new mega arena, Intuit Dome.
Marking the 25th anniversary of the 1999 self-titled debut, Slipknot has already confirmed live dates under the Here Comes the Pain banner in Latin America as well as dates throughout Europe confirmed for this touring season.
The arena tour is set to begin August 6th in Indiana and will include crucial stops at New York's Madison Square Garden, Scotiabank Arena in Toronto and now two stops at the newly christened Intuit Dome of Los Angeles. Confirmed as support on the run, Swedish standouts Orbit Culture will open the festivities for the first leg, with Des Monies aggressors Vended owning the task for leg two.
Taking stock of the band's tenure and what a commemorative tour like this means, Slipknot guitarist Jim Root spoke about the announcement and reflected, "We loved what we did with that first record but we didn't even know if there was going to be anything after that. We just wanted people to hear it."
Root continued, "selling out of records and shows, having successful tours - those are goals for any band. But the dream scenario in some ways, came true for us."
clown also weighed in on the significance of the Silver anniversary for Slipknot and explained that the band have every intention of making this run definitive. "Every time I have walked on stage, it's never been about how many people are there, because my culture, always shows up," clown emphasized.
"But as we have grown as a band, we have had fewer and fewer of those intimate, personal moments, trading them for massive ones. So we are going to make it more personal on the anniversary, but how remains to be seen. Just get ready to have your face kicked in. Because we just do what we do, spread that maggot culture - that disease. And you have been infected."
