Veteran hardcore, punk, metalcore amalgam Stick To Your Guns have announced their new chapter more than two decades into their career with the band's signing to SharpTone Records. Heralding the start of their next era, Stick To Your Guns have released a potent 2-track EP, Invisible Rain.
Combining the band's articulate brand of metal, punk and hardcore melded aggression, the tracks "Permanent Dark" and "Invisible Rain" assert powerful, proficient songwriting combined with urgent, compelling vocals that delve into some heady themes.
STYG vocalists Jesse Barnett explains the headspace of the Invisible Rain EP and how the themes of isolation and disconnection were big drivers creatively.
"This EP is about the theory of alienation. The ways in which we have been alienated from ourselves, our work, our lives and ultimately each other. How are we to care about anything beyond ourselves when we ourselves are in a constant state of survival."
Barnett continues, "The consequence of this is the society that currently envelopes us. One that preys on our decencies and our good will and turns it against us. There is a lot to despair about in today's world but our future has yet to be written. We can either write it or it will be written for us."
The Invisible Rain EP lands as the band prepare to head out on a summer strecth of dates supporting Hawthorne Heights and Anberlin. The run of shows will include select Is For Lovers appearance dates, the fest curated by Hawthorne Heights. Additionally, Stick To Your Guns will join While She Sleeps, Ocean Sleeper and Boundaries for a run of Australian tour dates later this year. A complete list of dates and cities can be found below.
