The clock is currently ticking the speculation is at an all-time high for fans of Linkin Park. Over gthe weekend, the band's digital platform began a countdown set for 100 hours. Set to finish on Wednesday August 28th, social media and the comments section across all platforms have been ablaze with fans offering their two cents on the imminent news.
The consensus thus far is that the band might announce their new singer. The band has been on hiatus since the tragic passing of beloved vocalist Chester Bennington back in 2017. The voice of Linkin Park committed suicide at the age of 41. The gravity of the tragedy put a pause on the future of the band as everyone came to terms with such a profound loss.
Earlier this year, several outlets began reporting on rumors that Linkin Park was not only considering offers for a slate of possible reunion shows, but were also actively looking for a female singer to step in and take on the vocal duties for the band. According to a report filed by Billboard, Mike Shinoda, Brad Delson and Dave Farrell were among the three original members involved in the ongoing discussions.
Addressing the heightened speculation swirling Linkin Park, Mike Shinoda spoke with Revolver Magazine earlier this year as the band celebrated the spring release of their singles collection, Papercuts. When asked about the future of the band, Shinoda said, “Rumors always go around. People always ask what’s next for the band, and the best answer I can ever give anybody is when there’s something to tell you, we will tell you. When there’s an announcement to be made, it will be on LinkinPark.com. If you’re hearing it from somebody else, you can trust that information as much as you want to trust it.”
It should be noted that all of the digital platforms where the cryptic countdown lives all point to the band's website, LinkinPark.com
