Southern California punk mavericks The Garden ran through a marathon masterclass for the Los Angeles stop of their Bootleg tour. Trekking in support of the AOTY candidate, the brothers Wyatt and Fletcher presided over a packed house of their most devoted, as the duo blazed through a lengthy live ritual of selections spanning the band's gamechaning catalog. 

Setting the pace from the jump, the band erupted on stage with the raucous "Filthy Rabbit Hole" and never looked back. Fromt he straight-forward stride of the album's title track to the post-punk haunt of "A 50's Guys Eyes" The Garden's effectiveness lies in their ability to cover such extensive musical terrain. From the cynical, salty punks to the curious Gen Z contingent, the duo deliver with something for everyone - with authenticity. 

Even as the band veered towards their more expansive, experimental fare with entries like "5 Mile Ponytail" and 'Flailing On the Tracks," the energy in the room never dipped, only shifted. Emphasizing dramatic effect with their top-tier songwriting, the intrigue went from intensity to intricacy as the packed Palladium was fixed with that what was happening onstage. 

For the band's second act, "Banned From Paradise" rallied the room with a wash of danceable synth, contrast expertly with the percussive drubbing of "What Else Could I Be But A Jester" - a loaded live one-two that was met with adulation from the house. Closing the show with the band's definitive "Thy Mission," The Garden lead the parade of punk into the marvelous modern era.
