Last year, rock powerhouse The Used debuted their highly-anticipated LP, Toxic Positivity, to universal acclaim. The album was paifred with with a rigorous touring slate, allowing the band to reemphasize their prowess with an energized live set that combined classic entries and new selections seamlessly.
Now, The Used have announced plans to release a deluxe B-Sides album stemming from the frutiful recording sessions with acclaimed producer John Feldmann during the Toxic Positivity LP. MEDZ showcases eight new, never-before-heard singles in addition to anchors of Toxic Positivity, including "People Are Vomit" and the biting anthem, "Fuck You".
Introducing the June 21st release, The Used have delivered the album's title track in "MEDZ" - an articulate show of songwriting anchored by vocalist Bert McCracken's soaring melody and signature lyrical wit.
Providing some context to the collection of unreleased songs, McCracken citing C.S. Lewis to better speak to the depth of the tunes. "Mental pain is less dramatic than physical pain, but it is more common and also more hard to bear. The frequent attempt to conceal mental pain increases the burden: it is easier to say “My tooth is aching” than to say ‘My heart is broken.’”
Marking just more than a year since the release of the band's latest full length studio album, Toxic Positivity, The Used are also setting out for a summer tour with longtime friends and counterparts, Story of the Year.
The tour will begin on June 20th in Gary, Indiana and wrap up with a set in Norfolk, VA on July 13th. Amira Elfeky has been tapped to open all dates on the month long stretch. Additionally, the tour will include a pair of festival dates with performances at PhaseFest in Wisconsin and Born and Raised Fest in St. Catharines, ON.
