Turnstile Issue Statement Regarding Former Guitarist Brady Ebert

- By Ramon Gonzales -->

The band address their former guitarist as Ebert now faces second degree attempted murder and first degree assault charges for an attack on Brendan Yates' father.

Former Turnstile guitarist Brady Ebert is now facing both second degree attempted murder and first degree assault charges for an incident that took place on March 29th. According to reports via The Baltimore Banner, police responded to an incident in Silver Spring , MD where authorities found William Yates, 79, in the front yard with “trauma to his lower extremities.”

Williams Yates if the father of Turnstile vocalist, Brendan Yates.

According to incident reports, Ebert intentionally ran down Yates with his car after a previous confrontation escalated involving Ebert honking his horn and yelling obscenities outside of the Yates residence. While Yates has since undergone surgery for his injuries, the fallout for Ebert has mounted as the former guitarist awaits a preliminary court hearing on May 1st.

The most recent incident with Ebert and Turnstile follows a lengthy separation that began back in 2022 when the band first cut ties with the guitarist. While the more public instances have played out via online banter and Ebert's swift dismissal from his involvement in The S.E.T., the same Baltimore Banner report alleges that Ebert's antagonistic and confrontational behavior had steadily escalated in recent months but had persisted since his 2022 split with Turnstile.

Issuing a collective statement via Rolling Stone, Turnstile have addressed the traumatic incident referencing the initial decision to cut ties with Ebert and the band's desire to disconnect from Ebert entirely moving forward. Read the statement from Turnstile via Rolling Stone below.

Turnstile cut ties with Brady Ebert in 2022 in response to a consistent pattern of harmful behavior affecting himself, the band, and the community. After exhausting every available resource to support his access to help and recovery, a boundary ultimately had to be set when healthy communication was no longer possible and he began threatening violence.

In the years since, his baseless tirades have continued in public. We never addressed it. We chose to protect his privacy and the circumstances around his departure, even when he did nothing to be deserving of that protection. Over the past few months, his threats only escalated further.

This past week, that violence led to a physical attack when Brady went to the house of Brendan’s parents and used his vehicle to run over Brendan’s father, causing severe physical trauma. We are grateful that Mr. Yates survived, has successfully undergone surgery, and we’re hoping for the best possible outcome in his recovery.

We have no language left for Brady.
