Twin Temple Confirm Third Full Length Album, 'Doomed Lovers'

- By Ramon Gonzales -->

Riding the recent controversy, the doo-wop, vintage rock & soul duo have revealed their next full length with producer Shooter Jennings.

Just last week, Satanic doo-wop duo Twin Temple gnabbed headlines with the news of their ousting from the supporting dates with country standout, Charley Crockett. Removed for their Satanic imagery and use of iconography like the Pentagram, Alexandra and Zachary James were thrust into the greater spotlight and even managed to land a supporting gig from none other than Jack White himself in lieu of being dropped from the Crockett run.

Now, the husband and wife tandem have leveraged the controversy to cast a much wider net with the reveal of their third full length album, Doomed Lovers. Working with revered outlaw country linage in producer Shooter Jennings, the album is set to arrive October 9th via the band's own Pentagrammaton Records.

The James family offered some insight to the added importance of this new chapter and the timeless influences that come through on the record. "We poured everything into this new record that we made with Shooter. We wanted to push ourselves creatively and expand the production further than we have before, drawing inspiration from the lush orchestral productions of Roy Orbison, The Ronettes, and The Shangri-Las, and added in some Countrypolitan flair. We brought in some incredible musicians like Matt Chamberlain and Jay Bellerose, and a 37-piece orchestra. We wanted to make something as beautiful as we possibly could- of course with our dark spin on things.”

The band also confided the personal significance of the album and how the process has been especially healing. "The truth is, this album was made during one of the darkest periods of our lives. We had been struggling with grief, health issues, addiction, and depression. But day by day, going into Sunset Sound, making music with incredible people who believed in us, and being surrounded by that creativity slowly brought us back to life. We started smiling and laughing again. I was becoming alive again. It connected us to why we fell in love with music in the first place and became our most personal album yet."

The announcement of the new album arrives with the introduction by way of the title track. "Doomed Lovers" is both heart achingly beautiful entry and that takes a an unconventional approach to devotion but examining the agony of love.

Speaking to Rolling Stone regarding the single, the band shared, "This is the philosophical centerpiece of the album - a theatrical and confessional take on all or nothing love, the dark side of devotion and centuries old mythic literary Romantic themes. It longs for a love so enduring and eternal that it ultimately consumes, obliterates, and drives one to madness and death. At its core, it asks the question - 'What happens when your lover dies?’"

The band continue, "But what makes the song unique is that it rejects the conventional and culturally accepted answer… 'I know I should tell you to find someone new’, in favor of raw, unfiltered and selfish desire, things that would be shameful to speak in mundane reality."

Twin Temple will take on a run of live dates supporting Danzig as well as a handful of headlining shows. A curent list of confirmed dates can be found below. Doomed Lovers, the new album from Twin Temple arrives October 9th via Pentagrammaton Records. Order the album - HERE
