The companion release to the band's celebrated Life Under The Sun EP which served as a supplemental release of the band's lauded 2023 LP, Life Under the Gun - Militarie Gun is further asserted their prowess as prolific songwriters and hardcore artisans with the wide release of a new mini-documentary.
Officially debuting Live Under The Sun, the film frames the collective of creatives at Manchester Orchestra’s Atlanta studio for a special live take on the EP. The footage includes guest performances from Manchester Orchestra, Marisa Dabice of Mannequin Pussy, as well as Christine Goodwyne of Pool Kids, stepoping in for Alicia Bognanno of Bully to take on a performance of, “Never Fucked Up Twice.”
At the center of both the film and the band, songwriter and Militarie Gun architect Ian Shelton asserts his connection to an ever-growing community that continues to galvanize around the sound the band forges - one rooted in hardcore ethos and songwriting aptitude.
As part of the rollout for the film and the build up to the band's upcoming Coachella appearance, Miliatrie Gun hosted the premiere of the film in Los Angeles at Brain Dead Studios on April 8th. Along with the screening, Ian Shelton sat with podcaster and writer Yasi Salek (Bandsplain, 24 Question Party People) as well as Manchester Orchestra's Andy Hull for a Q&A and an acoustic performance featuring Hull as part of the festivities.
The arrival of the mini-doc sets the band up for their upcoming slate of live dates spanning the majority of the year. Militarie Gun is confirmed to appear at Coachella, Welcome to Rockville, Primavera Sound, Bonnaroo, Lollapalooza, Thing Festival, Louder Than Life Festival, Reading & Leeds, Aftershock and more this year, in addition to a stretch of supporting dates with A Day to Remember this summer.
