Veteran Hatebreed guitarist Wayne Lozinak was forced to take medical leave while on tour with the band in Europe last month. Experiencing symptoms that became too apparent to ignore, Lozinak would first seek treatment in France, discovering that he had a benign meningioma in his brain.
Returning home to seek a more comprehensive diagnosis and course of treatment, Lozinak has issued an update with regards to his current prognosis and the kind of treatment he will need to get back on the mend.
Sharing a post via social media, Lozinak explained that additional tests all pointed to the same results received in France. He would also share that surgery was the next step and that he was optimistic about getting back on the road after making a speedy recovery.
“Hello everyone. Just wanted to first say, I’m feeling fine, and I’ve been back in the U.S. since last week. Basically just had more tests, and another MRI here, and the results are the same as they were in France. Can never be too sure I guess. In case you missed it, I have a benign meningioma in my head that needs to be removed! I have an appointment with a neurosurgeon this upcoming week, and hopefully we can get the surgery scheduled soon! I don’t have all the details yet on what that entails, but I will be looking forward to getting back on the road and seeing you all, once everything is done and is safe to do so!

Matt Bachand from Shadows Fall has stepped up to take on Lozinak's duties while the guitarist undergoes surgery and makes a full recovery. Hatebreed has remained relentless on the road, with a pair of dates supporting Slayer in the UK, all before returning to the states to begin their headlining run on The Summer Slaughter Tour with sets from Bleeding Through, Fugitive, Malevolence, Gridiron, Escuela Grind, Snuffed on Sight on Incite.
