BABYMETAL Complete Their Fall Headlining Run with a Powerful Set in SoCal

- By Ramon Gonzales

Expanding to a three-night finale, the trio punctuated what has been a career year with a commanding, catalog-spanning performance that dazzled.

Japanese kawaiicore pioneers BABYMETAL continue their run on the strength of last year's The Other One concept album.

Since the release, the band completed triumphant tours opposite Dethklok for their BabyKlok campaign, in addition to debuting acclaimed collaborations with the likes of Tom Morello, Lil Uzi Vert, Bring Me the Horizon and their most recent anthem with Electric Callboy in "RATATATA" which has since gone onto become one of the band's most celebrated anthems.

Adding to what has been a mammoth year for BABYMETAL, the trio of SU- METAL, MOAMETAL and MOMOMETAL recently confirmed an important first in the already storied career for the Japanese pop metal powerhouse. Taking cues from the band's epic pair of colossal performances at the Yokohama Arena in Japan, BABYMETAL will be leading their arena-sized spectacle for fans throughout Europe in 2025.

News of the landmark first arena outing for BABYMETAL  in Europe straddles the momentum of the band's meteoric year which also saw the trio earning a Gold certification from the RIAA for the 2020 collaboration with Bring Me The Horizon in "Kingslayer".

It also punctuates a festival season that saw BABYMETAL deliver highlight showings at Download Festival, Hellfest in France, Rock Im Park n Germany as well as impressive outings on Knotfest Brazil as well as Argentina and Chile.

All this played well into the anticipation of the band's fall headlining stretch that has been dazzling fans across North America. Pairing with heavy pop songstress and scene disruptor, Scene Queen, the tandem have proven ever-effective with a potent one-two that has been pure spectacle.

As an indicator of the kind of appetite that pairing have been met with, the fall run for BABYMETAL  was initially slated to close out with a final show in Southern California with a set at the House of Blues in Anaheim. Demand dictated however that not one, but two additional nights were needed to properly close the run.

For the band's first outing of their final three of the fall run, the opening of "BABYMETAL DEATH" ignited a firestorm and set a precedent for the evening. The follow-up of the Alissa White-Gluz assisted "Distortion" along with "PA PA YA!" from the Metal Galaxy era ensured that there would be no lull in the energy while BABYMETAL was in command.

Pairing the Electric Callboy-aided "RATATATA", the latest anthem in the BABYMETAL universe with one of their most enduring in "Gimme Chocolate!!" - the trio brilliantly built a bridge between the old and the new with seamless onstage execution. The pop from the crowd for both served as evidence of such.

Closing the evening with an encore that paired "Headbangeeeeerrrrr!!!!!" and one of the band's most enduring anthems in "Road of Resistance" - BABYMETAL  punctuated a performance that suggests the trifecta are operating at their performative peak.
