Following a successful run atop the 2025 edition of the annual Summer Slaughter tour, metallic hardcore pillars Hatebreed took up the flag once again for the 2026 installment. The perfect fit for a tour banner that emphasizes the broad range of sonic brutality and a generational meld of old school and new blood, Hatebreed proved more relevant than ever on the Southern California stop of the cross-country caravan.
Touting an insanely stacked bill that featured everything from death metal to hardcore, the diversity of the bill was matched by the intensity throughout the night - punctuated by the kind of showing from Hatebreed made the bill especially cohesive.
Unloading a succession of empowering anthems, essentials like "Proven," "I Will Be Heard," "This Is Now" and "Perseverance" sent the entirety of the Anaheim House of Blues into maelstrom - complete with crashing bodies, pumping fists and proper hardcore choruses. As the room emptied their lungs to singalong with true conviction, it became clear that Hatebreed's connection with their community is one that runs deep.
From the band's newer cuts like "Make the Demons Obey" to the classic portion of their catalog, with entries like "Empty Promises" and a chaotic rendition of "Not One Truth," the Connecticut OGs offered a profound reminder of their continued endurance and durability.
