There is a healthy consensus among those that follow heavy music - Knocked Loose is the wave.
Delivering one of the most anticipated new releases of the year last weekend with their Pure Noise full length, You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To, the kind of momentum the band is riding currently is undeniable.
Trickling out a succession of effective, commanding singles in "Blinding Faith", the groove heavy assault of "Don't Reach for Me" and the collaborative powerhouse with Poppy in "Suffocate" - the hype leading into the album's arrival was consuming with an obvious indicator proving to be the band's coinciding North American headlining tour.
Shortly after the announcement which would see Knocked Loose head the spring trek with Show Me the Body, Loathe and Aussie hardcore unit Speed - several of the dates were sold out months in advance. As due date for You Won't Go Before You're Supposed To drew closer, the tour was all but completely sold out before the band kicked off the run with a highly-touted set at Sick New World in Las Vegas last month.
Among one of the most pivotal dates on the run, the stars seemed to align for release weekend in Los Angeles. Knocked Loose would hold court at the historic Shrine Auditorium in what would be their biggest headlining performance to date with more than 6,500 impassioned fans packing the venue promptly.
Compiling the kind of set list that rolled out like highlight reel, Knocked Loose sourced from Laugh Tracks, A Different Shade of Blue, A Tear In the Fabric of Life and their latest full length with a set that was as seamless as it was searing. The climate in the room was purely celebratory which each track evoking an even bigger pop than the previous.
Knocked Loose in Loa Angeles felt especially significant. While the numbers alone suggest as much, with the thousands in attendance marking the band's biggest headlining play to date, the climate in the room was one of a commencement. While the discussion surrounding Knocked Loose has been about how the band's complete presentation has leveled up - this night in Los Angeles was the punctuation.
The leaders of the new school have arrived.
From Louisville with love.
