Arena punk pioneers Offspring took on a sold out Kia Forum in Inglewood for the Southern California stop of their Supercharged Worldwide campaign. The significance of the band's hometown stop along with the continued momentum of their 2024 album brought out the most enthusiastic fans, hellbent on singing every line of the band's marathon, greatest hits-loaded set.
Roping in newer selections from Supercharged including "Looking Out for #1" and "Make It Alright," Offspring executed a comprehensive set that spanned decades of hits all while asserting a continued relevance that few bands of their tenure enjoy. Loaded with radio's punk essentials like "All.I Want," "Bad Habit," "Gotta Get Away" and "The Kids Aren't Alright," every track was an anthem that elicited a roar from the arena.
Leveling up the energy in the room that was already riding high with a succession of hits, Offspring would also score big with their tribute to Ozzy Osbourne, delivering their take on "Paranoid" and "Crazy Train" that sent the fans into a frenzy. Pulling out all the stops, the band would also pay homage to their roots, taking on a rendition of The Ramones 'I Wanna Be Sedated" that spoke to the punk DNA of the veteran collective.
Offspring would also include some big theatrics for their homecoming set, perform their generational hit, "Pretty Fly, (for A White Guy)" that actually included an onstage cameo from Guy Cohen, the actor that played said "White Guy" in the music video that changed the game back in 1998. The viral moment indulged some light-hearted nostalgia for the band and landed well with some of the more seasoned fans in the building.
Closing out their time with a walloping one-two that included "You're Gonna Go Far, Kid" and the GenX anthem 'Self Esteem" Offspring reiterated their rank atop punk's most enduring, entertaining showmen.
