It's an equation that will almost always result in combustion.
Big band, small club... and watch it go.
Such was the case this last week when the legendary Pantera, pulled up their brakes at the storied First Avenue in Minneapolis. The band is currently trekking as part of Metallica's M72 World Tour, scorching stadium stages for massive weekend takeovers in every city the tour touches down in.
As part of the lead up to the Minneapolis weekender, Pantera opted to put in down inside the intimate, 1600-ish cap room that is unquestionably one of the country's most beloved live music destinations.
For the fans lucky enough to score tickets and make their way in, the payoff was a pulverizing, up-close-and-personal set of Pantera classics. Opening with "A New Level", the Cowboys from Hell established from the getgo that they had no intention of letting off the gas. The ferocity of staples like "Domination," "Fucking Hostile" and Strength Beyond Strength" in such close proximity, made the anthems that much more pummeling.
While the show needed no additional spectacle, the scene was pure bedlam when Rob Trujillo and Kirk Hammett from Metallica joined the band onstage for a rendition of "Walk" that sent a rumble from the iconic corner of First Avenue.
Closing the show with a knockout punch from Reinventing the Steel, the band leveled the room with "Yesterday Don't Mean Shit", walking off victorious with another legendary set. Check the photos from the event below by photographer Justin Nuoffer.
