Back patches and bottom rockers from various chapters of The Doom Crew were well represented as Zakk Wylde and the Black Label Society pulled into Los Angeles for the Southern California stop of their lengthy North American tour. The run featured Wylde putting in some overtime, leading the charge at the helm of Black Label Society and fronting his live homage to Black Sabbath with a special guest set from Zakk Sabbath on the same stage, same evening. 

As for the headlining set from BLS, Wylde's heavy-wielding axe soared from the opening blare of essentials like "Funeral Bell" and charging rendition of a newer Black Label cut in the Goliath, "Name In Blood." Wylde virtuosity was on full display, ripping the latter half of Ozzy's "No More Tears" and executing a dueling guitar solo during "Fire It Up" that included some worship at the altar of Deep Purple. 

The riffs proved non-stop as mandatory BLS tracks like "Destroy & Conquer," "The Blessed Hellride" and "Suicide Messiah"rattled the Youtube Theater. Closing out their time with the anthemic "Stillborn," Wylde's fist raised victorious as the BLS faithful got more their their fill. 

Leading up to Black Label's finale, Father Zakk submitted a set of the classics, kicking out Black Sabbath essentials with Zakk Sabbath. From "Children of the Grave" to "Fairies Wear Boots," to "N.I.B." the succession of heavy metal fundamentals drew a collective roar that grew with each start. Finishing with a version of "War Pigs" that saw Wylde handle his solo among the fans on the floor, the guitarist proved a true ambassador of heavy music with the kind of double duty that few could pull off.
