Heavy music sorcerers WORM continue to captivate the landscape of contemporary, extreme music. Trekking in support of the album of the year candidate, Necropalace, the visionary force distills elements of 90's golden era black metal with the muscle of 80's metallic shred, all combined with VHS-era, hazy horror aesthetic.
The live translation of the band's parallel universe came to life with nightmarish vividness for the Los Angeles stop of the Total Possession of America tour. Transforming the Teragram Ballroom into a ceremonial altar, the band's performance was pure necromancy with a cohesive seven-song set that resonated more incantation black metal show.
Recreating the macabre and majesty of Necropalace in full, WORM's sequential execution of the album was that of an odyssey in real time, complete with Goliath guitars, frosty howls and a celebration of the occult that left the room awestruck.
From the 12-minute epic of "Dragon Dreams" to the marathon title track of the album that earned one of the night's biggest pops, the tandem of Phantom Slaughter and Wroth Septentrion transformed a black metal rager into a stylized, sinister ritual.
