Evolving from the banner's virtual festival that forged its roots during the era of streaming, Knotfest has announced the latest iteration of their Pulse of The Maggots artist discovery series with the inaugural UK edition.
Set for August 10th in Birmingham, a destination long synonymous with the lore of heavy music, the first live installment of the Pulse series will be headed by Reading's purveyors of technical-thrash in Sylosis.
Assembling an international roster of artists spanning the stylistic spectrum of heavy, the bill is stacked with supporting sets from the likes of Swedish aggressors Orbit Culture and serves as a bit of a homecoming show for Church Road Records standouts Heriot, specifically for Birmingham native, Debbie Gough.
The U.S. contingent is represented by desert destructors Spirit World, heavy-wielding shredders Thrown Into Exile and metallic mystics All Hail the Yeti. Ensuring the bill maintains a sense of local integrity, Sheffield hardcore champs Rough Justice make the trek south for their first appearance in the city. Paired with Birmingham's own Cauldron, the band's recent flex of metallic hardcore in "Futile" and "Crossing the Threshold" struck a match among the underground.
Held in high regard among the leaders of modern era of ever-ascending British metal, Josh Middleton of Sylosis weighed in on the importance of the performance. "We’re very excited to be back in Birmingham alongside some of the best upcoming talent in international metal. This is our first show of 2022 and one of our first back with new music…and there is more to come very soon! See you there!"
Reiterating the gravity of the showcase, Debbie Gough of Heriot spoke of the lineage of Birmingham and the excitement in building on that legacy. "As big fans of Sylosis, we’re thrilled to be on this lineup in the home of metal! Birmingham is a special city for us to play and to be a part of this unique event means a lot to Heriot."
Tickets for the inaugural Pulse of the Maggots UK go on sale here at 10am Friday 27th May. Additionally, Knotfest is organizing a pop-up experience ahead of the start of the event - an added component of the Pulse of the Maggots experience for ticketholders. Further details will be unveiled in the coming weeks.
