Rotborn’s debut album is an engaging and relentless death metal downpour. The savagery is undeniable, as the vocals flirt with a more grindcore-esque ferocity and the onslaught of drums and riffs pulverizes your internal organs. Firmly rooted in the mid-90s stylings, Rotborn doesn’t shy away from 2022 ferocity and a healthy dose of “breeeeee!!”
The band wastes no time diving right in with “Condemned”, which has a marching rhythm, plodding through death metal gutturals and grindcore squeals. “Moral Grudge” doesn’t let up even slightly with the machine gun style drums. “F.U.B.A.R” is the longest track on the album and take a moment with its ominous opening before smashing you over the head with brick. “The Stench of a New Era to Come” is a highlight on the album, bringing bracing riffs and charging rhythms together. The album wraps on “The Void Eater”, which slows things down a bit, adding a bit of melody to the brutal mix.
Rotborn focus on assaulting speed and sinister, mid-temp chugs. On The Perspective Of An Imminent Downfall is a savage expression of Brazilian death metal, a whirlwind of brutality. If this is their debut, I cannot wait to see what destruction will follow! Get your copy HERE.
