Athens based Passengers in Panic have taken on the challenge of mixing traditional Greek folk music, prog and heavy metal, and they do it damn well! The ominous instrumental opener creates a sense of unease for the album with war sounds and crying babies. This the most straightforward part of the album. Going forward into the main tracks, the band creates an energetic mix of good riffs, impassioned vocals and lots of attitude.
The album touches on several subgenres from prog to punk. “No Ghosts at the Feast” pairs punky verses with an epic chorus. “Life At Its Best” is a full on folk ballad while “Gang of Stares” shifts into more grunge territory. I won't continue to spoil it for you, but there are a lot of twists and turns on this album that keep it a thrilling ride throughout.
Founded in 2019, Passengers in Panic is composed of founders Lefteris Christou (bass) and Kally Voo (vocals, accordion). The line-up is completed by Lela Arguri (guitars) and Akis Gavalas (drums) who joined later. Christou handles composition and arrangement, while Kally is the lyricist. Each musician in this band is extremely skilled at what they do and their creativity and willingness to experiment knows no bounds. You can pick up your copy HERE.
