Bandcamp Roulette: Gritty Power Metal From Veritates

Bandcamp Roulette is a feature where, every week, we will buy a randomly chosen album from an underground band and tell you all about it! Follow us on Instagram to help us choose next week's album!

If you like your power metal with a darker tinger, getting into the dirtier and gritter side of the genre, Veritates’ Silent War is for you! The Cologne heavy metal band bring an edge to both their vocals and the riffs that swirl around them letting the Teutonic steel fly.

The opening track “For My Thoughts” set the stage with a headbang worthy beat and fist pumping riffs. This track would see a lot of chanting and energy when played live. “My Own Way” speeds it up with some wild pinch harmonics. Ballads “Alone” and “Mirror” score with great emotions and carry the album along a more sorrowful path. "Lies" and the title track really put you in a good mood with their faster pace and engaging rhythm. “Fear Sells” goes anthemic. To sum up, this band knows when to speed it up, slow it down, and bring you in with an engaging chorus or verse to sing along to.

Silent War is the sophomore album from the German heavy metallers. The album was produced by Chris Boltendahl, frontman of Grave Digger, and he gave “Silent War” a powerful sound. This is power metal, yes, but with a somber and almost melancholy mood. Not lacking in soaring vocals, but also not without its gravel and grime. Get your copy HERE.
