How do you unveil some of the key art for one of the biggest video game releases of the year? If you are Activision Blizzard, you takeover one of the largest ports in the world to showcase the goods.
This morning, the official Call of Duty twitter account shot out a slew of updates including the ensemble cast of operatives that make up Task Force 141 for the second edition of the Modern Warfare franchise under the Call of Duty banner. Revealing art featuring Simon “Ghost” Riley, Captain John Price, Kyle “Gaz” Garrick, John “Soap” MacTavishm, and Alejandro Vargas, the succession of updates also included a reveal video of epic proportions.
Taking to the Port of Long Beach, the grand finale of the art work reveal featured a 90,000 square feet of "visible-from-space" visual, commencing the next iteration of the franchise. According to a statement via the Call of Duty site, a dedicated team worked some 24 hours to configure a cargo ship emblazoned with the Modern Warfare II artwork wrap. The final image features Task Force 141 Operative Ghost once the industrial-sized puzzle pieces were finally assembled.
The news of the addition to the franchise was announced last month. Though there are no official details of the storyline of the game, early details say that Modern Warfare 2 will center around U.S. special forces taking on a Colombian drug cartel. The entry is a follow-up to the 2019 edition of Modern Warfare and serves as an important release given the Microsoft acquisition of Activision Blizzard earlier this year.
