Set to drop their latest DLC on October 15th, the Street Fighter 6 entry has enlisted metal royalty for an original composition as part of the upgraded gameplay experience.
Director Takayuki Nakayama, a longtime fan of the Cavalera cannon across Sepultura, Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy, leveraged his fandom to recruit brothers Max and Iggor to create a new track for one of the game's most definitive characters. "Piledriver" is the original track from Cavalera which now serves as the anthem for Zengief, who will get an upgrade with the latest DLC drop arriving this week.
Along with the new music, Zangief will also have access to new cosmetics that prominently feature Cavalera as a wearable brand while squaring off against an international field of combatants.
Nakayama said of the collaborative effort, “Having grown up listening to Sepultura, Soulfly and Cavalera Conspiracy, I never imagined that one day I would work with heroes like Max and Iggor. When I found out they had accepted the job — bands I loved since my school days — our sound team, made up of other metal lovers, and I went absolutely wild with joy.
They showed us their raw and unique worldview in ‘Morbid Visions‘, made history with ‘Chaos A.D.‘, collaborated with my equally beloved Mike Patton on ‘Roots‘ (my favorite album) and gave me a lot of motivation when I heard ‘Back To The Primitive‘, by Soulfly. What I’m trying to say is that I am truly and deeply grateful! Thank you.”
