Desert death dealers Gatecreeper have again leveled up their impressive charge en route to the arrival of their next full length album, Dark Superstition.
Having already confirmed their spot as key support under Swedish melodic-metal icons In Flames for an extensive North American run this spring in addition to their own headlining trek following the conclusion of the supporting stretch - the band continues to showcase their musical prowess with a succession of powerful singles from their pending LP.
Having previewed their next chapter earlier this year with the unveiling of "Caught In the Treads" - Gatecreeper paid homage to the Swedish sound in heavy music with their own ferocious take. Followed closely by the release of their brazen metal epic, "The Black Curtain", Gatecreeper further emphasized their evolving presence as master craftsmen with a sincere reverence for extreme metal greats that paved the way.
Now, Gatecreeper have delivered yet another emphatic reminder of their stylized brutality with the unveiling of their take on contemporary death metal in "Masterpiece of Chaos". Speaking on the direction of the track and how it works into the fabric of Dark Superstition, frontman Chase Mason explains, “'Masterpiece of Chaos' is a nightmarish vision of a broken mirror with an ominous creature that lives within the fragmented web of glass. It sonically contrasts and compliments the more melodic approach we took to some of the other songs."
Dark Superstition marks the debut release foer Gatecreeper on Nuclear Blast Records and the first release studio release since the band's heralded 2021 EP An Unexpected Reality - a surprise effort that included zero fan fare, and asserted the dynamic range of the band covering the spectrum extreme music.
Enlisting elite level personnel to oversee the assembly of the songs on the album, Gatecreeper tapped the likes of Kurt Ballou of Converge and Fred Estby of the legendary Dismember to loan their expertise to the effort. Asserting their adaptive ability as songwriters, Dark Superstition embraces themes of the metaphysical and mystical, while framing the breadth the band's musical brutality.
