The Mariachi alter ego of punk stalwarts The Bronx, Mariachi El Bronx have announced their first new album since 2014's Mariachi El Bronx III. The fourth installment of the creative extension from The Bronx reignites the band's tried and true homage to traditional Mexican music and culture, asserting an ambitious tribute to their Los Angeles lineage and diverse artistic roots.

Weaving a vivid narrative of a distinctly human ensemble cast, the 12 tracks on Mariachi El Bronx IV frame an imaginative stories of love, loss, triumph and tragedy. Speaking to the honesty of the record from a thematic level, frontman Matt Caughtran explained that the music was cathartic and "started as a battle between love and death but became a way to process all the chaos of the world."

To add some additional context to the gravity of the record, as Mariachi El Bronx recorded the songs that would become their fourth record with producer John Avila at his San Gabriel Valley studio - the Eaton Canyon scorched a significant portion of East LA.  “We came out of the studio one night, the entire side of the hill was just on fire,” guitarist Joby Ford shared.

In a year that saw such catastrophe, Caughtran would endure the added grief of losing  loved ones who passed and would get married all in a close span of time. The highest of highs and lowest of lows would result in a flood of emotion that would inevitably be poured into what would become Mariachi El Bronx IV.

Introducing the February 13th full length, Mariachi El Bronx have shared the lead single in "Forgive or Forget". The track premiered via NPR's Morning Becomes Eclectic and offers a glimpse into the emotional weight of the record. Of the single's protagonist, Caughtran explains the lead character is portrayed as someone “who’s completely disheveled and a little washed out, looking back on their life in a way that's kind of hazy,” he explains. “There's a little bit of hope there, but it's pretty dark.”

Paired with the confirmation of the long-awaited new album, Mariachi El Bronx have scheduled a limited run of intimate shows leading up to the release of IV. Firming up four shows across four months in four important markets, each show will feature a $4 ticket aligning with the theme of the new LP. Tijuana Quatro is presented by Liquid Death and will include stops in Los Angeles, Santa Ana, San Diego and end with an album release show in Tijuana, MX on Valentine's Day.
