Following the success of their Third World Trilogy tour which left a trails of destruction in their path last year, showcasing definitive Sepultura releases in Morbid Visions and Bestial Devastation, the brothers Cavalera Max and Iggor again asserted their enduring legacy with arguably the greatest entry of the gospel of early Sepultura.
Revisiting the brothers' seminal 1993 release, Chaos A.D., the album remains universally regarded as not only one of Sepultura's most influential albums, but one of heavy music's archetypal presentations. The united front of Max and Iggor executed an all out masterclass, showcasing a performance of the iconic album in full, submitting a powerful reminder of the family's metallic pedigree and the evergreen quality of their craft.
From the thunderous opening tribal drum intro of "Refuse/Resist," it was apparent that the magnitude of Chaos A.D. was firmly in tact and towering as ever. Watching Max and Iggor work in unison along son Igor Amadeus, the recreation of the album, including the stage design replicating the cover art, was a marvel from start to finish.
The 70-minute set covered every corner of Chaos A.D. including the full aocustic treatment of "Kaiowas" and renditions of "The Hunt" from New Model Army and a genuine tribute to Ozzy Osbourne and the legacy of Black Sabbath with a cover of "Symptom of the Universe" which was featured on the expanded version of the album.
Emerging onstage for an encore, the family Cavalera shifted from the throb of "Chaos B.C." to the 2025 version of "Refuse/Resist" giving fans a second, more thrash-leaning variation of an anthem that could have been played a few more times on the night and still hit just as heavy.
Adding to the importance of the night, industrial metal legends Fear Factory proved a crucial cohort in making the performance as success. Out in celebration of the 30th anniversary of their seminal album Demanufacture, the band's precise recreation of the record made for an impressive presentation - one that reiterated the shared history between the two bands. Sepultura and Fear Factory toured together back in 1994 on the first leg of the Chaos A.D. tour, making this night the completion of a very lengthy, very formative full circle.
