Among one of the most anticipated events of the heavy music calendar year, Korn held court for massive SoCal stadium show October 5th - taking over BMO Stadium in Los Angeles. The event marked landmark 30th anniversary of the band's eponymous LP - a self-titled work the would ultimately usher in a new era of heavy music begin a cultural shift that would make the band modern day icons.
Underscoring the band's continued reach and enduring relevance, Korn curated a full day of performances, cultivating a daylong celebration that bridged generations of fans in the heart of Los Angeles. Bolstered by sets from Evanescence, Gojira, Scars On Broadway as well as energized sets from emerging talents like Spiritbox and Vended - Korn's 30th anniversary event came packaged with a festival feel that added to the significance of such an important career milestone.
As for Korn's live set - the band did well in covering a catalog some three decades deep. Making an emphatic statement with the opener, "Here to Stay" the band barreled into essentials from From the Leader, Life Is Peachy and Issues, while still working in modern era material including "Start the Healing" from 2021's Requiem LP.
While the enormity of the celebration and the grandeur of the production was a marvel on all its' own, there were a handful of especially important highlights on the evening. Korn would dedicate one of metal's most essential tracks, "Blind" to producer Ross Robinson. The band also included "Helmet In the Bush" in the setlist for the first time in nearly a decade.
Closing their time with one of their biggest hits, Korn wrapped with "Freak On A Leash" as their finale, bringing up Amy Lee of Evanescence for what resulted in a powerhouse punctuation of an already historic evening.
