Adding an element of the sinister to the spectacle of Coachella, the horde of Jerry Only, Doyle Wolfgang von Frankenstein, Acey Slade, Dave Lombardo and the incomparable Glenn Danzig reveled in punk rock fury under the California desert sky.
Among the featured appearances for the dual-weekend congregation, The Original Misfits roared through a collection of essentials, relentless in the radiant glow of the iconic Crimson Ghost skull. Ripping through generational anthems like "Where Eagles Dare," "London Dungeon," "Hybrid Moments," "Attitude" and "Some Kinda Hate," the lore of the Fiend Club came to life in real time with Danzig leading the charge.
As Danzig introduced each track, the fervor among the fans swelled, resulting in a surge of bodies whipping into a pit that was recharged with each song. On anthems like "We Are 138," "Skulls" and "Halloween," the crowd broke out in a chorus, echoing Danzig's howl into the night sky and uniting fans across generations in the experience.
Closing both sets with the magnificently morbid lines of "Last Caress," The Original Misfits along with thousands of fans singing in unison welcomed "Sweet lovely death" and cemented a legacy, played out in real time and unparalleled in punk.
