The Toxic Avenger and Red Sonja both return to the big screen, Bob Odenkirk proves he's not a Nobody once again, Weapons notches a perfect score on Rotten Tomatoes and much more coming to theaters this month

‘The Naked Gun’ August 1st (Theaters)

Only one man has the particular set of skills...to lead Police Squad and save the world! Lt. Frank Drebin Jr. (Liam Neeson) follows in his father's footsteps to stop a murder case in this reboot of acclaimed comedy franchise The Naked Gun, directed by Akiva Schaffer (Saturday Night Live, Popstar: Never Stop Never Stopping) and from producer Seth MacFarlane and co-starring Pamela Anderson.

From director Zach Cregger, the mind behind 2022's unpredictably twisted Barbarian, comes the next vision of fear: Weapons. When all but one child from the same class mysteriously vanish on the same night at exactly the same time, a community is left questioning who or what is behind their disappearance.

 

‘Nobody 2’ August 15th (Theaters)

Bob Odenkirk returns as suburban husband, father and workaholic assassin Hutch Mansell in the new chapter to Nobody. Four years after he inadvertently took on the Russian mob, Hutch remains $30 million in debt to the criminal organization and is working it off with an unending string of hits on international thugs. Much as he likes the slam-bang action of his “job,” Hutch and his wife Becca (Connie Nielsen) find themselves overworked and drifting apart. So, they decide to take their kids (Gage Munroe, Paisley Cadorath) on a short getaway to Wild Bill’s Majestic Midway and Waterpark, the one and only place where Hutch and his brother Harry (RZA) went on a vacation as kids. With Hutch’s dad (Christopher Lloyd) in tow, the family arrives in the small tourist town of Plummerville, eager for some fun in the sun. But when a minor encounter with some town bullies yanks the family into the crosshairs of a corrupt theme-park operator (John Ortiz) and his shady sheriff (Colin Hanks), Hutch finds himself the focus of the most unhinged, blood-thirsty crime boss he (or anyone) has ever encountered (Sharon Stone).

Captured. Chained. Forced to fight for survival. Red Sonja (Matilda Lutz) must battle her way through the blood-soaked pits of a tyrant’s empire and rally an army of outcasts to reclaim her freedom and take down Dragan (Robert Sheehan) and his ruthless bride, Dark Annisia (Wallis Day).

 

'Witchboard’ August 15th (Theaters)

From legendary director Chuck Russell (A Nightmare on Elm Street 3, The Mask), Witchboard resurrects the '80's horror classic with a chilling new vision. In present-day New Orleans, a cursed artifact unleashes a vengeful witch, drawing a young couple (Madison Iseman & Aaron Dominguez) into a deadly spiral of possession, temptation, and occult terror.

 

‘Highest 2 Lowest’ August 15th (Theaters)

When a titan music mogul (Denzel Washington), widely known as having the “best ears in the business,” is targeted with a ransom plot, he is jammed up in a life-or-death moral dilemma. Brothers Denzel Washington and Spike Lee reunite for the fifth time in their long working relationship for a reinterpretation of the great filmmaker Akira Kurosawa’s crime thriller “High and Low,” now played out on the mean streets of modern day New York City.

 

‘Primitive War’ August 21st (Theaters)

From director Luke Sparke comes Primitive War, based on the popular novel by Ethan Pettus. Vietnam. 1968. A recon unit known as Vulture Squad is sent to an isolated jungle valley to uncover the fate of a missing Green Beret platoon. They soon discover they are not alone. It's war films meets Jurassic Park in this genre mashup, and you won't want to miss the carnage on the big screen.

 

‘Lurker’ August 22nd (Theaters)

In this tantalizing psychological thriller from writer and director Alex Russell (The Bear), a retail employee (Theodore Pellerin) infiltrates the inner circle of an artist on the verge of stardom (Archie Madekwe). As he gets closer to the budding music star, access and proximity become a matter of life and death. You can never guess what happens from scene in scene in this wildly unpredictable flick.

 

‘Caught Stealing’ August 29th (Theaters)

Hank Thompson (Austin Butler) was a high-school baseball phenom who can’t play anymore, but everything else is going okay. He’s got a great girl (Zoë Kravitz), tends bar at a New York dive, and his favorite team is making an underdog run at the pennant. When his punk-rock neighbor Russ (Matt Smith) asks him to take care of his cat for a few days, Hank suddenly finds himself caught in the middle of a motley crew of threatening gangsters. They all want a piece of him; the problem is he has no idea why. As Hank attempts to evade their ever-tightening grip, he’s got to use all his hustle to stay alive long enough to find out.

 

‘The Toxic Avenger’ August 29th (Theaters)

Toxie is officially BACK! A janitor known as Winston Gooze (Peter Dinklage) becomes a social outcast when a freak accident at a chemical factory turns him into a mutant. However, he soon uses his newfound superhuman strength to battle slimy criminals and a corrupt CEO in this black comedy splatterfest.
